In the last week we have spent a good amount of time traveling the area and getting to know the place. It's getting more familiar, and we are starting to find our way around without the GPS. Earlier this week we made our way to San Francisco, specifically to go to Chinatown.
Parking wasn't as bad as Chicago, which was nice. We went to the touristy spots in the guide book, and managed to find several places more interesting than anything listed in the book. There were some very unique shops. One we went into specialized in hand carved art in ivory. We went to a fortune cookie factory. I imagined a large factory with many workers. This was just literally a dim hallway with a couple of people cooking the batter and forming cookies into shape. We got free samples but had to pay $0.50 to take a picture. 
The next day I started my new job. The hospital itself has definitely seen a better day, but the people have all been really nice. The PICU is on the 10th floor and has big windows so I get a great view on one side of the mountains, and on the other side all of Oakland, the Bay, and San Francisco. Not a bad view to eat my lunch by. Nate has found a game shop in Berkeley and has been hanging out there on occasion. Berkeley is a nice low-key neighboring city to have. There is also a Sigma Pi chapter there at U.C. Berkeley. We are going to spend our weekend doing some more exploring, probably across the bay in San Francisco. If we find anything interesting, I'm sure we'll talk about it on here. Until then, take care!
